CANCELED - Vancouver Island Ride

Ever want to take your Harley on a ferry ride to Vancouver Island? Here is your opportunity to join your Director on a 4-night, 4-day long weekend adventure to Vancouver Island with highlights including the charm of Victoria, unique coastal logging and fishing villages, and the ruggedness of Canada’s unbridled West Coast. The first night we all meet up in Port Angeles and stay the night at the Red Lion down beside the Black Ball Ferry Terminal.

Assembly: Destination Harley

Check-in: TBD

KU: TBD

Day 1 sees us board the Black Ball Ferry Coho and journey across the Strait of Juan de Fuca and dock in the beautiful Capital of British Columbia, Victoria. From there we will head to the only HD Dealership on Vancouver Island for a quick bathroom/shopping break before embarking on our day long ride. From Harley we head west through Sooke and then head north on Hwy 14 known as the West Coast Road and part of the Pacific Marine Circle Tour. Riding along this rugged wind-swept coastal highway is mesmerizing. On a clear day you will be able to see all the way across the Strait to NW Washington State. We will be making our lunch stop in the coastal logging and fishing town of Port Renfrew and sample some local coastal cuisine. From there we will head east back across Vancouver Island through logging areas that are paved but have dozens of very unique single lane bridges. West bound traffic doesn’t stop as they have the right of way so keep on your toes as we head towards our overnight stop in Cowichan Bay. Cowichan Bay is a quaint little fishing town and is fully walkable with little coffee and baking shops, restaurants, and pubs.

Day 2 will have us taking more of the backroads through cool little towns such as Crofton, Chemainus, Ladysmith, Cedar, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach before heading back across the island towards the West Coast. Heading west we will cross over the spine of Vancouver Island and ride through Cathedral Grove, a temperate rain forest with enormous 800-year-old trees and was one of the many locations for the filming of Return of the Jedi, before dropping down into the mill town of Port Alberni. We will have a mandatory ice cream stop at the edge of town as mandated by Laura Parker! Continuing westbound, we will ride along Sproat Lake, through beautiful mountain highway curves, and along the stunning Kennedy Lake until we reach the quaint fishing village of Ucluelet.

Day 3 will have us returning the way we came but ultimately heading all the way back to Victoria to have fun and explore the gorgeous downtown area. Dinner, shopping, exploring, or just visiting unique local pubs. You can do whatever you want before heading home the next morning.
